History

There have been Methodists worshipping in this part of South Down from the 18th Century with a Methodist presence in Newcastle for nearly 200 years on this site at Central Promenade. However, the current Donard Congregation was formed only a few years ago by the merger of our Downpatrick, Dundrum and Newcastle congregations.

In days gone by there were Methodist chapels in Annalong, Castlewellan and Maghera to name but a few.

Although intensely proud of our past heritage and the debt we owe to our predecessors we are a forward looking people keen to continue to share our faith through preaching, prayer, the sharing of holy communion, social action and of course through song. Our story is still unfolding and we would love you to be part of it.
